Pairadice Equestrian LLC in Milton held its annual Pairadice Equestrian quadrille drill team camp July 15-21, when seasoned riders ages 8 to 14 and their horses/ponies learned to perform formations and drills to music.
Quadrille originated from the military, where riders do formations in sequence making patterns.
The campers of Pairadice created their formations to music they picked and choreographed as part of the one-week camp. There was a ton of collaboration and transparency among the campers. Veteran riders Lilly Ghabour and Izzy Zigman were team leads.
The first drill and formation was performed to the Hawaiian version of “Over the Rainbow.” The team did unique formations including a team heart, after which they presented Hawaiian leis to Lilly Ghabour’s family in attendance at the event.
The second part of the performance was to the song “You Make Me” by Anyma & Rufus Du Sol.
“These girls worked together as a team and exceeded all my expectations this week,” said Pairadice Equestrian owner Camille Kierstead. “The bond between a horse and their rider is one like no other. For me, it's all about making memories, not millions."
