Paradise Grill wins annual Restaurant Games

Trophy heads across the bay for second straight year after Dewey Business Partnership event
August 7, 2024

A large crowd gathered by the bay at Hyatt Place Dewey Beach Aug. 6, to watch Paradise Grill repeat as champion in the Dewey Business Partnership’s annual Restaurant Games.

Woody’s Dewey Beach Bar & Grill took second in the contest, which saw no small amount of playful trash talk and friendly disputes among teams and referees. In fact, one or two folks could be heard grumbling that the coveted trophy will be heading across Rehoboth Bay for another year, as Paradise Grill also won the cup last year.

In all, 24 teams signed up to compete, including The Lighthouse, Paradise Grill, The Starboard, Dewey Beer Company, Rehoboth Ale House, The Dewey Post, Somewhere, Northbeach, Victoria’s, Nicola’s, Woody’s 2 Go, Claw Rehoboth, Nalu, Blue Hen, Paradise Seaside, Grotto Pizza, Starboard Claw, Dogfish, Dockside, Jimmy’s Grille, Purple Parrot, Woody’s Dewey Beach Bar & Grill, Big Chill Surf Cantina and Arena’s.

A modified cornhole tiebreaker match went several rounds, with the judges moving the boards to shorten the throwing length for players as their aim seemed to falter with each progressive turn.

In the end, Paradise Grill bested Woody’s in a hard-fought tug-of-war championship round.

The Dewey Business Partnership hosts the Egg Scoop, Arts Festival, Kids Running of the Bull and other family-friendly events. For more information, go to deweybusinesspartnership.com or facebook.com/DeweyBusinessPartnership.
