Patricia Ann Link Canby, loved learning
Patricia Ann “Patty” Link Canby, 78, passed peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022, at The Moorings in Lewes. She was born Nov. 19, 1943, in Philadelphia, Pa. Her parents were William E. Link and Anna Rita Link (nee Bell). She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Charles A. Canby, and her brother Brian P. Link.
Patty attended Holy Family College, Temple University, and the University of Pennsylvania. She worked for the City of Philadelphia for over 35 years, with many of those years serving as district supervisor for the Philadelphia Department of Recreation. After relocating to Lewes, Patty worked as a substitute teacher for Sussex Technical High School and prepared college-bound students to take the SAT through Kaplan. She also prepared taxes for H&R Block.
She was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic minister and as a visitor to the homebound. Patty was a strong advocate for the pro-life movement. She attended Bible Study Fellowship and was a member of the Milton Century Club. Patty loved learning and was a voracious reader. She enjoyed travel with her husband Charles, and loved her dogs and parrot.
Patty is survived by her five sisters: Judith Salvatore (Michael), MaryEllen Fullmer (Charles), Loretta Link Esterly (Greg), Felicia Cannon (Kelly) and Veronica Link; her five brothers: William Link, Dennis Link (Kathy), Joseph Link (Maria), Gerard Link (Patricia) and Raymond Link (Carrie); she is also survived by her 28 nieces/nephews, and 22 grandnieces/nephews. Patty will be sorely missed by her family.
Friends and relatives are respectfully invited to attend Patty’s Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 13, at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, where friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Sussex Pregnancy Care Center of Georgetown, 5 Burger King Drive, Georgetown, DE 19947.
