Patti J. Levenson, loved children, animals
Patti J. Levenson, 68, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away Friday, Jan. 6, 2023, at Harrison Senior Living in Georgetown following her brave battle with dementia. She was surrounded by her sister, Nancy Levenson, and her wonderfully attentive caregivers at Harrison. Patti was born March 13, 1954, in Boston, Mass., to Joan and Alan Levenson. Patti grew up in Auburn, Maine, and graduated from Edward Little High School. Patti loved working with children, music, animals and the outdoors. Inspired to become an educator, she earned her bachelor’s degree in special education in 1976 from the University of Maine in Farmington.
During her tenure working as a teacher, she earned a master’s degree in social work from the University of Southern Maine. Over the next 30-plus years, Patti worked tirelessly as a case manager for the State of Maine’s Dept. of Human Services, where she used her talents and energy to help children and adolescents living in challenging home environments to achieve better and safer lives. Patti made it her life’s work to assist every child who needed help.
Patti was preceded in death by her father, Alan Levenson. She is survived by her mother, Joan Levenson; and her sister, Nancy. Patti will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by family and friends for her kindness, warmth, generosity, keen sense of humor, and unyielding love and care for animals.
To remember Patti’s commitment to the welfare of animals, her family welcomes memorial donations to Humane Animal Partners, humaneanimalpartners.org; or the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society, gahumane.org.
