Pauline A. Crowder, retired nutritionist
Mrs. Pauline A. Crowder, 73, of Millsboro passed away Monday, Nov. 16, 2020. Pauline was born in Bishopville, Md., to the late Gordy Swift and Emma Cohey Swift Walker Feb. 28, 2020. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John O. Mitchell Jr. in 1999, as well as her son, Mark W. Mitchell.
She graduated from Delaware Tech with an associates degree in nutrition. Pauline then worked for and retired from the State of Delaware where she worked for the Indian River School District in the nutrition department. Pauline was an avid seamstress, and enjoyed reading, cooking and baking for her family and friends. She loved animals, especially her cats Hope and Morrison.
Pauline is survived by two daughters, Wanda Sammons, and Nancy O’Day and her husband Stacy, all of Millsboro; and one brother, Gordy Swift of Georgetown. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Adam Sammons (Ashlyn) of Milford, John-Ross Winter (Tony) of Long Island City, N.Y., Amber Salvatore (Thomas) of Williamsburg, Va., and Eric Winter of Millsboro, as well as five great-grandchildren, Madison, Tanner, Savannah and Easton Sammons, and TJ Salvatore. She is also survived by three nieces, three nephews, extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Nov. 20, at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call from noon to 1 p.m., for visitation with the family. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Brandywine Valley SPCA, 22918 DuPont Blvd., Georgetown, DE 19947.
