Pedestrian killed in Ellendale crash
Delaware State Police are investigating an Oct. 7 fatal crash involving a pedestrian in Ellendale.
About 11:16 p.m., a 2005 Toyota Avalon was traveling southbound on Route 113 in the left lane. A vehicle not involved in the crash was stopped at a red light in the westbound lane of Route 16. One of the passengers exited the vehicle and started walking westbound through the intersection and into the path of the Toyota.
The pedestrian, Malachi Gibbs, 23, of Harrington, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Toyota, a 32-year-old man from Milton, sustained minor injuries during the crash.
The roadway was closed for about three hours.
Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this incident. Troopers are asking anyone who witnessed this crash to contact Master Cpl. K. Argo at 302-703-3264.
