Penguin Diner celebrates new look in Bethany Beach

May 9, 2015

After weeks of renovation, the Penguin Diner in Bethany Beach debuted its brand-new look and reopened its doors to the public April 24. Updates to the restaurant include a new icy blue color scheme, updated bar, walls and flooring, specially made lighting fixtures and new artwork adorning the walls.

“We’re so excited about our new look and our new décor. Everybody’s worked so hard for this day, and we’re really excited about this summer,” said owner Katie McLeod at the ribbon cutting.

The restaurant’s décor is not all that’s been updated. Changes have been made to the menu as well at this family-owned, farm-to-table restaurant. Some additions include real Maryland fresh crab and fresh fish. “We’re going to have an all-new dinner menu. From Coastal Coffee Works to Teddy Bear Fresh to Big Fish and Lewes Fish House, we want to keep it local,” explained McLeod, “except kind of tipping our hats to our New England roots in Vermont.” These Vermont roots include serving real imported pure Vermont maple syrup with their all-day breakfast menu.

Current off-season hours for the Penguin Diner are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday and  9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday through Sunday with extended hours from 5 to 9 p.m. on open mic Saturdays. For more information, go to www.penguindiner.com.
