Peninsula Gallery hosts guest artist Sharon Denny

August 3, 2023

The Peninsula Gallery is hosting live-action wildlife photographer Sharon Denny as its August guest artist.

Denny, a Rehoboth Beach-based art photographer, has been cultivating her twin passions of photography and nature most of her life. Growing up on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, with its many Chesapeake Bay-fed tributaries, ignited her fascination with the rhythms and patterns of wildlife and nature. Her wildlife photography reveals her interest in the routines that dictate the lives of wild animals. These cycles – migration, courtship, nesting and feeding, for instance – are rooted in eons of genetic predisposition, yet they are influenced by the smallest of fluctuations in weather patterns and food sources.

Denny spent 20 years as a print journalist before retiring in 2018 as vice president of strategy for a Fortune 500 company. Her photography has won multiple awards and has been featured in several publications. She earned dual honors as Versatile Photographer of the Year and Photographer of the Year for Delaware’s Coastal Camera Club in both 2022 and 2023.

This exhibit highlights five photographs printed on metal that is specially coated with aluminum for high-quality reproduction. Birds featured include eagles, peacocks, herons and egrets, all found in their natural habitats.
