The people of Bowers Beach want to know what happened?!?

September 28, 2016

This postcard, published by an Ocean City, New Jersey postcard company, was mailed in 1940.  Needless to say it doesn’t appear that the publishers ever visited Bowers Beach, Delaware, known more for its charter and head boat fishing than for its beaches and Boardwalk.  Information printed on the back of the postcard is almost as wild as the photograph itself.  It reads: “The Boardwalk is the life and heart and soul of the resort. Thronged by day and by night, its miles of diverting interests present attractive shops with a wide variety of wares, theaters, amusement centers, dancing casinos, opera and swimming pools, rest rooms, benches, pavilions and drinking fountains for visitors.”  All that, but no mention of the Heartbreak Hotel?
