Perfect time for the bye week
The Eagles lost yet another "close, but no cigar," kind of game 27-16 on Sunday night at Carolina. In the first half, the defense played its heart out to keep us in the game and the halftime score was 10 to 3. The offense was so anemic it was a miracle that the game was even that close. The Panthers pulled away in the end.
The Eagles are on their bye week. Their next game is against Dallas, at Dallas, on Sunday night football again. The Cowboys seem to be falling apart at the seams, so maybe we can come back and win that game to become .500 on the season again.
The only chance for the Eagles to make the playoffs is to win our division which is really bad!
In the World Series so far, the Kansas City Royals are using their great experience from last year to outlast the New York Mets. The Royals are winning two to nothing in games and the first game actually made some history.
On the first pitch of the game, the leadoff hitter for Kansas City, Alcides Escobar, hit an inside the park home run! That was the first time in 111 years that this had happened going all the way back to the first World Series ever played in 1903. Amazing!
The game then lasted five hours and seven minutes (I was long gone by then) which Kansas City finally won 5 to 4 in 14 innings. Kansas City joins the 2008 and 2009 Phillies as the last team to go to back to back World Series.
The Phillies also made some news. They hired a new General Manager, Matt Klentek. The front office is hoping he is as good as young Theo Epstein was when he was in Boston. The Phillies are taking a big risk because he's only 35 years old. All we can do now is see what happens.
Back to football for a second. I just have to get this off my chest. If JJ Watt of the Houston Texans is so amazing, why is his team 1-6 on the season so far? I don't usually say this, but for me, he has to start showing up more in games to earn his reputation and money.
