Philip Walls Brown, Kody’s Kids founder

Philip Walls Brown, 68, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away at his home Saturday, July 8, 2023. He was born Oct. 26, 1954, in Chestertown, Md., son of the late Courtland and Virginia (Walls) Brown.

Philip was a 1973 graduate of Queene Anne’s County High School in Centreville, Md., and a 1978 graduate of Wilfred Academy of Cosmetology in Philadelphia, Pa. After many years in Philadelphia, Philip relocated to Rehoboth Beach and became the founder and president of Kody’s Kids, a nonprofit dedicated to inspiring kids of all abilities to be healthier, smarter, and kinder. Through his organization, he and his volunteers influenced the lives of many Sussex County children. Above all, the time spent with those he held dear and his charitable work were what he cherished most. Philip was a loving and devoted brother, uncle, and friend who will be deeply missed by the many people whose lives he touched with his kindness.

In addition to his parents, Philip was preceded in death by his brother, James R. Brown. He is survived by his sister, Jean Brown Winterstein; his sister-in-law, Marlene Elliott Brown; and nephews, Michael Brown (Tanya), Wesley Winterstein (Ashley) and William Winterstein (Elizabeth).

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 21, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes, where friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m.
