Philly Pretzel Factory set for National Pretzel Day

April 24, 2012

Thursday, April 26, will be a day to put that diet on hold. For on that day, Philly Pretzel Factory in Rehoboth Beach will be taking part in National Pretzel Day.

Every customer that comes in will get a free traditional Philly soft pretzel.

Manager Eric Long and owner Paul Sarnak said they are expecting to go through as many as 2,000 to 3,000 pretzels on Thursday.

“I’ll have plenty of them in there ready to get cooked and get handed out,” Long said. “They just have to come get them.”

The Rehoboth location is also offering the first 100 people in the store on National Pretzel Day free pretzels every day in May.

“Our whole idea is to get people that have never tried the pretzel before, because most of our people, once they try it, they’ll be back,” Sarnak said.

National Pretzel Day is a holiday in Pennsylvania, declared in 2003 by then-Gov. Ed Rendell to celebrate the state’s most famous snack. However, pretzel shops all over the country celebrate the day, Sarnak said.

Philly Pretzel Factory, the franchise, will be in the spotlight Friday, April 27, when it will be featured on the CBS show “Undercover Boss,” a reality show where CEOs go undercover as regular employees. While the show will not involve the Rehoboth location, Sarnak said Philly Pretzel Factory will be the smallest company ever featured on the show.

“We’re really excited about it,” he said.

Philly Pretzel Factory is located in Midway Galleria on Route 1 across from Tanger Midway outlets. For more information, call 302-645-2271 or go to phillysoftpretzelfactory.com.
