Phyllis Lynn Wilson, passionate about the arts

September 6, 2023

Phyllis Lynn Wilson, 84, of Seaford, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2023, at Lofland Park Center in Seaford. She was born March 3, 1939, in Seaford, daughter of the late Benson Ira and Elizabeth (Newton) Allen.

Phyllis was a graduate of Seaford School District and had attended James Madison University, where she enjoyed adventures in horseback riding and the usual college fun of the era.

She was predeceased by her third husband, John (Steve) Dilks, who passed away from cancer in 2009. Following college, she married Michael Frank Wilson, who was from the United Kingdom, and began a family that included her son, Christopher Allen Wilson of Cockeysville, Md., and her daughter, Dawn Elizabeth Wilson-Enoch of Placitas, N.M.; as well as her grandson, Maxwell Bush of Rio Rancho, N.M. During a part of this time, she lived in Bermuda and California while her husband was in the USAF. After returning to Seaford, she worked as a court reporter for the State of Delaware.

She was passionate about the arts and was a visual artist herself, which was a trait she also passed on to her children. During the ‘70s and ’80s, she spent many summers in the Rehoboth Beach area, as well as being a lifelong member of the Seaford Golf and Country Club. As a keen and avid bridge player, she often won local and regional tournaments.

Phyllis was privately laid to rest in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Seaford.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Watson-Yates Funeral Home, a member of the Parsell Funeral Family.
