Harvey Elliott, general manager of Pine Haven Campground, said a recent DNREC wastewater violation notice dealt with known issues dating back years before Blue Beach Bungalows DE purchased the property in September 2022.
“During the acquisition process, we learned of septic and water issues with the infrastructure of the campground that dated back several years with no action from the previous owner,” Elliott said. “We are shocked by DNREC’s violation notice because it does not address previously known issues by both DNREC and Pine Haven’s former owner, which we have been trying to remedy since we took ownership only four months ago.”
He said since the new owner purchased the property, they have been working with DNREC officials to rectify septic and water issues. Septic tanks have been regularly pumped out and water issues have been remediated as they arise, he added.
Elliott said documentation is available showing the owner’s exhaustive and continual efforts to clean up the campground.
Pine Haven is located near Argos Corner off Route 1 adjacent to Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park-Delaware, which is owned by Blue Water Development Corporation of Ocean City, Md., the parent company of Blue Beach Bungalows.
