Pre-Polar Bear Plunge fun gets weekend off to a good start
Thousands of people will raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for Special Olympics Delaware during the 33rd annual Polar Bear Plunge Feb. 4 in Rehoboth Beach.
Hundreds of those athletes and plunge participants got the weekend started Feb. 3 by taking part in Fire & Ice Festivities, watching a sand sculpting demonstration and walking through town as part of a restaurant chili tasting contest.
Winners were announced shortly after the food contests ended.
In the chili contest, Downtown Blues won Best Overall 1st Place and Judges’ Choice, Mariachi won Best Overall 2nd Place, The Pines won Best Overall 3rd Place, and Dos Locos was named Most Unique.
In the wings contest, Kiwi’s Kove was named the Polar Bear Pick and Zogg’s Raw Bar & Grill was named Judges’ Choice.
Kara’s Sugar Kitchen was named Polar Bear Pick in the ice cream contest, with Woodside Farm Creamery being named Judges’ Choice.
