Preakness looms, NBA lottery rules need to be tweaked

May 18, 2017

On Tuesday, before game two of the Western Conference Finals, the NBA lottery took place. The Boston Celtics received the first pick.

I don't think this is fair because the Celtics are in the Eastern Conference Finals right now. I don't think that a team that is in the finals should be eligible for first pick. The whole point of the process is to help the bad teams get better. And yes, I would be saying the same thing if the 76ers were in the same position. They got the third pick this year. My hope is that this is the last year they will even be in the lottery.

In golf, the Players Championship was won by a virtual unknown to most people; Si Woo Kim from South Korea. He became the youngest winner of the tournament at 21 years old.

Kim turned professional at the age of only 17. He wasn't even allowed to play a full schedule on the Tour until he turned 18. So far, he has been extremely inconsistent. Kim has only two victories in the past year and he has also missed a whole bunch of cuts.

As great a win as this was for him, it was not a very dramatic finish. He cruised into that victory with a three shot margin. This was a great win for Kim though, because South Korea is mostly known for the incredible amount of wins from the female golfers on the LPGA tour.

This weekend is the second leg of the Triple Crown races with the Preakness in Baltimore. I will be rooting for Always Dreaming to win the race. Winning both is remarkable in itself, but what really would make that a great win is that it would make for a Triple Crown possibility for the Belmont Stakes.
