President Lyndon Johnson in Delaware in 1964

November 2, 2016

This week, in the spirit of the election season, we continue with publication of photographs showing U.S. presidents in Delaware.

In the late winter of 1964, President Lyndon Johnson, in the first year of his presidency following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in November 1963, visited Delaware and greeted crowds in Kent County.  He is shown here at an event in Dover.

  • Delaware Cape Region History in Photographs, published every Tuesday in the Cape Gazette, features historical photos from Delaware's Cape Region - particularly - and from throughout Sussex County and Delaware generally.

Readers are invited to submit photos of historic interest. They can be mailed to the Cape Gazette at PO Box 213, Lewes, DE 19958, or via email to newsroom@capegazette.com.
