PRN Staffers prepares for grand opening

March 1, 2022

PRN Staffers in Milford will formally cut the ribbon on its new office on 28 Walnut St. at a grand opening ceremony set for 11 a.m., Monday, March 14.

Founder Earnestine Brown said the company’s mission is to provide home care for homebound patients. Brown said the company was originally founded to provide services to veterans but has since expanded to cover seniors and children with disabilities.

“We provide services for a lot of people with dementia, Alzheimer’s, quadriplegics, paraplegics and a lot of bed-bound patients,” she said.

The company hires and trains medical professionals with experience taking care of homebound patients, and contracts them out. Brown said many of those working for PRN Staffers previously worked in hospitals or at doctor’s offices. In all, the company has 186 employees, she said.

Since the company began operations in 2019, PRN Staffers has opened offices in Dover and Newark, and now in downtown Milford. Brown said the main office for patients is in Milford, with Newark being the site of the company’s training center and the Dover location being for tele-networking only.

Brown started PRN Staffers as a home business after her husband had to receive home healthcare. A graduate of Florida A&M University, she worked as a registered nurse overseas, and in the U.S. in military hospitals and Veterans Administration clinics, as well as in intensive care and critical care units. Brown said her experience in the military shaped her desire to help people.

“I saw so much go on with veterans overseas. You’re at the bedside of the wounded, amputation of legs, and so much tragedy. I just formed this deep passion that I wanted them to know that they are loved,” she said.

She then decided to go to law school, starting at Catholic University before transferring to University of District of Columbia Law School, formerly Antioch School of Law. Brown ended up in the Philadelphia area where she opened a 54-bed facility for veterans before coming to Delaware.

“I’ve been like a servant forever. Just serving the people. And that’s been my passion,” she said.
