The Glade Quilters will be selling handmade, one-of-a-kind quilts during the seventh annual St. Jude Car Show, Craft Show and Bake Sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 25, on the grounds of St. Jude The Apostle Church on Route 1 north of Lewes. These exquisite quilts are 40-by-40-inches, and cost $40. Quilt sale proceeds go to purchasing supplies so the Glade Quilters can continue their fine work on behalf of area nonprofit organizations.
The Glade Quilters have been making quilts for the needy since 2001 and to date have donated more than 3,000 quilts. Recipients include Kody’s Kids, Cape Henlopen Senior Center, Sussex County Women’s Shelter, Ronald McDonald House, BayHealth Medical, and Little Sisters of the Poor, to name a few. The Glade Quilters group is self-funded, relying on donations from the community. Many members purchase and donate fabric for the projects, and the resulting quilts demonstrate the makers’ unique creative talents.
