Racial justice alliance honors Fred Thomas Middle School students
The Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice recently honored Frederick Thomas Middle School students Jaida White and Kyle Miller for their leadership, effort and excellence.
According to her teachers, Jaida exudes the qualities that are desired in a middle school student. She works hard and participates often in class and makes a concerted effort to get to know her teachers. She consistently tries to be positive and reaches out to other students for social interaction, as well as to help them with their academic success. Overall, Jaida is the type of student who reminds her teachers each day why they chose their profession.
Kyle’s teachers said he brings positive energy to class every day. He greets everyone with a smile and tackles each lesson with enthusiasm. Kyle always encourages his peers, helps students who want help, and isn't afraid to ask for help when he needs it. He is known for being a conscientious student.
Jaida and Kyle were honored in a ceremony at the school and each received a $20 gift card to Browseabout Books in Rehoboth from SDARJ.
SDARJ initiated the African American Achievement Award to recognize students who represent the ideals of leadership, improvement, effort and excellence in their schools. Students from each school in the Cape Henlopen and Indian River School Districts are recognized throughout the school year. SDARJ is a nonpartisan organization that educates, informs, and advocates for racial justice, equality and fair opportunity. For more information, go to sdarj.org.
