Racial justice alliance to host Black History Month program Feb. 28

February 26, 2025

The Twin Poets, Delaware’s Poets Laureate, will headline a Black History Month program presented by Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 28, at Epworth United Methodist Church, 19285 Holland Glade Road, Rehoboth Beach.

Brothers Albert Mills and Rep. Nnamdi Chukwuocha, D-Wilmington, have both served their country in the U.S. Army and their communities with careers in social work. Through their life experiences, the brothers discovered the transformative and healing power of poetry, directing their work particularly to helping young people and veterans.

Sussex community leaders speaking at the event include Charlotte King, SDARJ founder; the Rev. Marjorie Belmont, Israel United Methodist Church pastor and Pathways to Success human resources manager; the Rev. Tony Neal, Georgetown councilman; and Don Peterson, vice president of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Organization of Sussex County.

Emcee will be Calvin Jackson, president of the Cape Henlopen Educational Foundation president.

The program will also feature performances by the Friendship Baptist Church Choir, an Omega Psi Phi step crew and The Alliance Singers of CAMP Rehoboth Chorus.
