Raymond C. Donahoe, enjoyed church, celebrating holidays
Raymond C. “Tony” Donahoe, 85, of Laurel, formerly of Georgetown and Lewes, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, June 4, 2024.
Tony was born in Wilmington to the late Marvin E. Donahoe and Valdora E. (Shuster) Donahoe Ellis.
Tony was cared for by the Salvation Army DDP staff and was involved with the KSI day program in Georgetown. Tony loved singing, dancing, drinking coffee and making friends. He enjoyed attending church and especially loved to sing “Jesus Loves Me.” Tony was thrilled to celebrate any holiday. When one was done, he was already planning and decorating for the next.
Tony is preceded in death by his father, Marvin; his mother, Valdora; stepfather, Ernest Ellis; and two brothers, Robert Donahoe and William Donahoe.
He is survived by his sisters-in-law, Magdalene Donahoe and Barbara Donahoe; many friends who became family, especially Joyce Mears; his caregivers through the Salvation Army DDP; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 17, Short Funeral Services chapel, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown. Visitation for family and friends will begin at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at 1 p.m., at Riverview Cemetery, Wilmington.
