Reading the Gazette at the Blue Temple in Chiang Rai, Thailand 

Cape Gazette reader Andrea Datkowsky of Milton recently went with friends to donate a week of her time at an elephant sanctuary, Elephant Nature Park, elephantnaturepark.org, in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The sanctuary takes in elderly elephants of all ages who have been overworked and abused. The center rehabilitates them, letting them live out their lives in the park with other elephants, as they are social animals. Andrea traveled there via Doha, Qatar, and Bangkok, Thailand. She enjoyed a river trip on the Me Kong River, visiting several beautiful temples during her visit. Andrea is shown here at the Blue Temple, known for its striking modern artistic design. She returned by circumnavigating the globe, traveling to Saigon, Vietnam, Tokyo, Japan, Los Angeles, California, and back to Delaware. It was the trip of a lifetime!
