Rebecca 'Becky' Elder, full of life
The "old, short, bossy lady" drew her last breath in the hands of her daughter and her cat Lilo by her side. Rebecca M. Elder, 81, of Lewes and Claymont, departed this earth Monday, Nov. 2, 2015, and will now be with her husband, William R. Elder, and her mother, Helen Dryden.
Becky was full of life and touched the souls of everyone she met. She worked as a secretary in the Brandywine School District, taught Sunday school, was a mother to two foreign exchange students and many foster children. She would give to others before herself.
For many years Becky would spend her leisure time bowling and an occasional trip to the slots. She especially enjoyed her time spent with her family and friends on holidays and vacations.
Her family includes Gail Elder White and her husband Andrew of Pittsboro, N.C.; and her grandchildren Matt and Stacey, Karen Lynn Haney and her husband Joseph of Lewes, Joseph W. Haney and his wife Jessica,; and JJ Haney; his GG, her great-grandson.
Becky was attended to by her caretaker Tish, who not only comforted her in her final year, but became a family member to us as well. Thank you!
A private service will held at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.
Arrangements by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Becky's name to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
