Register July 3 for weekend sea bass tourney at South Shore Marina

Indian River South Shore Marina will hold its inaugural Black Sea Bass Tournament from Friday to Sunday, July 5 to 7. This is a three-day tournament where teams will choose two days to fish.

Registration will be held in person from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 3, at South Shore Marina, 45 Marina View Court, Bethany Beach, on the south side of the Indian River Inlet bridge. Registration fee (cash only) is $300 per team registered to a boat. Teams will be six people maximum.

Added entries for Calcutta Divisions are heaviest individual, $150 entry fee, winner take all; heaviest stringer (10 max), $150 entry fee, winner take all; and woman angler, $75 entry fee, heaviest individual, winner take all.

Junior anglers age 16 and under can enter for free but must register July 3. The winner will receive a gift donated by Norvell and Associates Plumbing.

Weigh-ins will take place at South Shore Marina from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday, July 5 and 6, and from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, July 7. The awards ceremony will be held around 5 p.m., Sunday. Winnings will be distributed at the ceremony.

Tournament payouts will be awarded for heaviest sea bass, with first place getting 50%, second place 30% and third place 20% of net entry fees. There will be a prize of $50 for the most unusual bi-catch.
