Rehoboth, Acres celebrate Arbor Day

May 10, 2016

Rehoboth Beach and Henlopen Acres rang in Arbor Day April 29 with each town planting a new tree.

Henlopen Acres planted a honey locust at the marina, a tree purchased for the town by Delaware State Forest Service. Town manager Tom Roth said the town is planning to plant 12 more trees through a $2,700 grant from the state.

Taking part in the dedication are (l-r) Nathalie McGregor, Town Manager Tom Roth, Sonny McClure, Mayor David Lyons, Bob Ribinsky and Henry DeWitt.

Rehoboth’s tree was donated by the Rehoboth Beach Homeowner’s Association to honor the service of Marcia Maldeis. The pin oak was planted at the west end of Lake Gerar Park. Dedicating the tree are (l-r) Commissioner Lorraine Zellers, city arborist Elisabeth Lingo, Rehoboth homeowner’s association president Charlie Brown, Commissioner Stan Mills, Marcia Maldeis and Mayor Sam Cooper.
