Rehoboth Beach emergency dispatch is triple accredited
The International Academies of Emergency Dispatch has recertified the City of Rehoboth Beach 9-1-1 Communications Center as an Accredited Center of Excellence for medical and police as well as fire dispatch services.
IAED certification is the highest distinction given to emergency communications centers, certifying that they are performing at or above established industry standards. IAED accreditation is the culmination of a stringent process including demonstration that the center is meeting a set of 20 measurable, globally recognized best practices as well as a detailed evaluation by industry experts.
Police Chief Keith Banks said, “This accreditation assures our residents and visitors that the city’s emergency services will be appropriately and effectively dispatched when called upon, that help will be there when they need it. The fact that the city has earned reaccreditation is a reflection of the dedication and good work of our communications specialists, who often must provide calm, life-saving directions and other critical information in the midst of stressful, chaotic situations.”
Accreditation is valid for a three-year period. Rehoboth’s communications center first received IAED accreditation for medical dispatch in 1995, and for police and fire dispatch in 2018. The city first earned triple ACE accreditation in 2019.
IAED is the standard-setting organization for emergency dispatch and response services worldwide. The organization works to advance and support public safety emergency telecommunications professionals, and to ensure that citizens in need of emergency services are matched safely, quickly and effectively with the most appropriate resources.
