On Sunday afternoon, Oct. 14, the Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival will team up with the American Lung Association’s Lung Force Walk to raise funds for lung health awareness and to defeat lung cancer. The Lung Force Walks are a time to learn, promote fitness and to forge lasting connections among the participants. And thanks to the Jazz Festival, it will also be a time to do a little dancing and listening to some great music.
The run starts at 10 a.m. at the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand, and at 1 p.m. the Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival will treat participants and downtown visitors to a live performance of The Rehoboth Foodie’s new jazz trio, 2nd Time Around (weather permitting). “I lost my mother to lung cancer,” says Cape Gazette columnist, radio personality and 2nd Time Around band leader Bob Yesbek. “Twenty-five years ago she died of a type of lung cancer that is now fully treatable. So I see firsthand how important these fundraising efforts are. We are honored to be a part of this event.”
The efforts of the walkers, the Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival and others who are part of the event will help fund cancer research and provide cancer victims and their families with valuable resources. At the end of the walk, the live music on the Rehoboth Bandstand will top off the event for the participants and those who come downtown to cheer them on.
