Rehoboth Beach Patrolwoman Marie Fuller was sworn in for duty during a commissioner workshop Sept. 5.

Fuller recently completed 23 weeks of training at the Delaware State Police Academy and will field train for another nine weeks with the city. Fuller had also served as a seasonal cadet the past two summers.

Mayor Stan Mills said he believes it was the first time in city history that a new officer was sworn in at a commissioner meeting.

Rehoboth Beach Police Chief Keith Banks said City Manager Laurence Christian asked that the city’s elected officials be introduced to the new officer. Everyone agreed the best way for everyone to get together was at a city meeting, he said.

If at all possible, the city will hold all future swearing-in of officers at a city meeting, said Banks.
