Rehoboth Beach Pride Festival set July 20

July 17, 2024

Sussex Pride announced the Rehoboth Beach Pride Festival will celebrate love and inclusivity with a day of revelry, awareness and unity for the LGBTQ+ community and its allies Saturday, July 20, at Rehoboth Beach Convention Center.

Workshops kick off at 9:30 a.m. with a variety of educational and entertaining topics. Participants will engage in meaningful conversations on critical issues in the LGBTQ+ community such as aging and addressing intimate partner violence, and a thought-provoking panel featuring LGBTQ+ faith leaders.

Host Roxy Overbrooke will deliver a lively atmosphere for attendees. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., there will be 50 vendors exhibiting, along with live performances, a photo exhibit of the Rehoboth Beach LGBTQ+ community, health screenings, giveaways and more.

A raffle will raise funds to support unhoused LGBTQ+ youth in Delaware through the Safeguards Housing Committee, a program of PFLAG Wilmington.

Nationwide, an estimated 40% of unhoused youth and 30% of youth in foster care identify as LGBTQ+.

“Sussex Pride is proud to be a member of the Safeguards Housing Committee and to be able to support homeless LGBTQ+ youth in our state,” said David Mariner, Sussex Pride executive director.

Evening ticketed events include a comedy show featuring the Funny Girlz (Roxanna Ward, Vickie Shaw and Lisa Koch), followed by a dance with DJ Sue P.

Rehoboth Beach Pride Festival emphasizes the importance of providing safe spaces for LGBTQ+ individuals to come together, celebrate their identities and address the unique challenges they face.

"We are excited to bring the Rehoboth Beach Pride Festival to our community. We encourage everyone to join us for a day filled with laughter, learning and love,” said Mariner.
