Rehoboth Concert Band to present Holiday Peace show Dec. 22

December 13, 2024

The Rehoboth Concert Band will present its annual Holiday Peace program at 3 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 22, in the theater at Cape Henlopen High School, 1250 Kings Highway, Lewes. Doors open at 2:30 p.m.

A long-standing tradition at the beach, the performance celebrates the spirit of inclusion and multiculturalism reflected in the local community.

Band President Dianne Deming said, “As a diverse community, with people celebrating a variety of holidays at this time of year, central to all our celebrations is the desire and hope for peace within and among all people. Rehoboth Concert Band hopes to contribute to this goal of inner and worldwide peace through the gift of music.”

RCB Director Steve Kieley said this year’s program will showcase a wide range of genres, styles and cultural influences that come together to create a truly festive atmosphere. “From traditional carols and hymns that have been passed down through generations, to fresh renditions offering interesting takes on holiday classics, this concert blends the old and the new. Incorporating different musical traditions from around the world, the Rehoboth Concert Band will highlight how the universal themes of joy, peace and goodwill transcend borders. Holiday Peace reflects the rich, multifaceted ways we come together as a community to celebrate the season,” he said.

Adding their voices to this year’s program will be the Alliance Singers of CAMP Rehoboth Chorus, a select, auditioned group of 18 singers within the chorus.
