The Rehoboth Beach Public Library will partner with the Blood Bank of Delmarva to host a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday, Jan. 17.
Every year, the Blood Bank of Delmarva provides blood to more than 20,000 patients in 19 hospitals across Delmarva. To meet the current demand, more than 70,000 blood donations are needed each year on the Delmarva Peninsula alone. Though a lag in donations is typical during the holidays, a 20% decrease in local donations in November motivated the Blood Bank of Delmarva to declare a blood emergency, citing high demand and short supply. Every donation matters and can potentially save a life.
The Rehoboth Beach Public Library is located at 226 Rehoboth Ave., and walk-ins are welcome. To sign up for an appointment, go to donate.bbd.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/10530.
