Reinhard Henry Breyer, man of faith
Reinhard Henry Breyer passed away Monday, Sept. 9, 2024, in Lewes. He was born Feb. 8, 1954, in Philadelphia, Pa., cherished son of Christa (Herbst) Breyer and the late Hans Breyer.
Reinhard's life was a testament to the values of family, faith, and friendship. He graduated from St. Joseph’s University with a bachelor’s degree in food marketing, a field where he thrived and built lasting relationships. However, it was his passions beyond his career that truly defined him.
A man of deep faith, Reinhard found great joy in attending services and spending time with his beloved church family at Bay Shore Community Church. His faith guided him, providing him with comfort and strength throughout his life.
Outside of his spiritual commitments, Reinhard lived life to the fullest. He was an avid golfer, and the pro shop manager at the Bethany Bay golf course. Hank was retired but found a community of people that was a joy to work with and chose to return to the workforce. He was an enthusiastic fisherman, savoring moments by the water. His love for the beach and its serenity made Millsboro the perfect place to call home. Whether he was cooking up a feast for loved ones, meticulously detailing his car, or simply relaxing to the tunes of Jimmy Buffett and classic rock, Reinhard embraced every moment with passion and enthusiasm.
A proud Freemason, Reinhard valued tradition, camaraderie, and the bonds of brotherhood. Yet, above all, nothing gave him greater joy than his family. For 29 beautiful years, he shared his life with his loving wife, Kay (Bower) Breyer, whom he adored deeply. Together, they built a life filled with love and memories that will live on in the hearts of their children, Valorie Paul, Andrea Draper, Donna Shoaff and Alex Breyer. Reinhard was also the proud grandfather of eight grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and joy.
Reinhard is preceded in death by his father, Hans Breyer, but his legacy lives on in the hearts of his surviving family, his mother, Christa Breyer; his devoted wife, Kay his children; grandchildren; and his dear siblings, Monica Knapp and Herb Breyer.
Reinhard was a man of many talents, great humility, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. His kind heart, infectious smile, and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. While services will be private, the impact of his life will continue to be felt far and wide.
