Resident artist’s work on display at The Moorings
The Moorings at Lewes is hosting an exhibition of work by resident artist Phyllis Zwarych during the month of January.
The show is open to the public for viewing or purchasing at 17028 Cadbury Circle, Lewes.
Zwarych works with acrylics and watercolors, and her pieces focus on beautiful, natural landscapes.
All proceeds from the exhibition will be donated to The Moorings’ Resident Reserve Fund, which assists qualified residents who, through no fault of their own, have outlived their resources. This fund – fully supported by generous donations through the foundation – was created to ensure that no resident will ever have to leave the community due to financial difficulties.
A retired dentist, Zwarych also taught anatomy at he University of Kansas Medical School and the University of Kentucky. She always had an affinity for painting, but it became a more serious hobby following her retirement in 1998. She took several classes to refine her skills, and she’s continued doing so since moving to Delaware with her partner Sheila in 2008.
“The Moorings at Lewes offers our gallery wall for local artists to exhibit their work each month. It is exciting to be able to display a resident’s art that showcases their talent and to have the opportunity to visualize their world,” said Annette Moore, NHA, The Moorings executive director. “Phyllis has so many different mediums in which she is highly skilled, and she is displaying vignettes and paintings that spark interest in so many different people. It is humbling that all of the proceeds have been dedicated to the fund that helps maintain residents to age in place even if finances become a concern.”
