Ribbon cutting held for Bonkeys Ice Cream and Snoballs

May 14, 2018

Bonkeys Homemade Ice Cream and Snoballs reopened May 5 for the 2018 summer season. The Rehoboth Beach location at 20200 Coastal Highway is celebrating its fifth year while the Bethany Beach location at 35849 Atlantic Ave. is celebrating its eighth year. Both shops will be open Friday to Sunday in May, and seven days a week after Memorial Day, Monday, May 28.

Owners Bonnie and Keith (Bon-Keys) have been making hot people cool for over 25 years with roots starting with small snoball stands in Baltimore, home of the classic Egg Custard snoball. They then moved to southern Pennsylvania, studied ice cream making at Penn State University, and opened two small-town ice cream shops in Stewartstown and New Freedom, Pa. In 2011, they brought their love of unique ice cream and classic Baltimore-style snoballs to the beach.

With making ice cream daily at the Rehoboth Beach location, new flavors are always being debuted along with the classics. A few of their most popular flavors are cookie monster, wild hogs bacon, zombie and blueberry pancake. From homemade, hand-dipped ice cream to soft serve, old-fashioned snoball with marshmallow or a frozen banana, Bonkeys has the the perfect treat for a summer day.
