Richard Francis Wabals, had many interests, hobbies

Richard “Dick" Francis Wabals, 85, of Milton, passed away at home Friday, Feb. 4, 2022.  He was born Nov. 29, 1936, in Philadelphia, Pa., son of the late Frank Wabals and Pearl (Brzeczek) Wabals.

Mr. Wabals graduated from the Northeast Catholic High School for boys in 1954.  He continued his studies at Drexel University from where he obtained a bachelor of arts degree, and as a proud member of Drexel ROTC earned an Army commission. On Nov. 16, 1968, Mr. Wabals married the love of his life, Sandra L. Wabals, in Bethlehem, Pa.

He built a lifelong career working for the U.S. Department of Army as a civilian employee. Mr.  Wabals had many and varied interests and hobbies. He was skilled at building models of airplanes and ships, loved woodworking, and was an avid reader. Mr. Wabals was also known for his needlework skills and found great joy as a Revolutionary War reenactor. Mr. Wabals was a loving and devoted husband, father, and friend. Loved by many, he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Wabals was predeceased by his brother. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra L. Wabals; and his two children, Matthew Wabals of Philadelphia, and Jennifer Wabals of Alexandria, Va.

A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m., Monday, Feb. 21, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes, where friends may visit beginning at 2 p.m.

Mask wearing is required and social distancing must be observed by all service attendees and participants.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
