Robert C. Moyer Jr., business owner
Robert Charles Moyer Jr., 56 of Bridgeville, passed away peacefully after a brief illness, surrounded by his family and friends Monday, May 2, 2011, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford.
He was born Dec. 5, 1954, in Washington, D.C., son of Robert Charles Moyer Sr. and Ethel Mae Fein Moyer.
Mr. Moyer was currently the owner and operator of Moyers Heating and Air Inc. Previously he had served as a policeman in Millsboro and as a correctional officer at the Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown. He was a member and current vice president of the Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Department where he also served as a fire policeman and ambulance driver. He was a member and state captain for the Patriot Guard Riders. Mr. Moyer was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Coast Guard and was a member of the VFW of Greenwood and the American Legion in Seaford.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Bernadette Marie Moyer; sons Joseph Tallent of Bridgeville, William Tunis of Hampstead, Md., George Tunis of Bridgeville and John Talent of Seaford; daughters, Linda Tunis of Laurel and Karen Wright of Harrington; his mother Ethel Mae Moyer of Milton; a brother Brian Moyer of Milton; a sister Cynthia LeBlanc of Massachusetts; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 14, with Pastor Dale L. Brown officiating at the Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Company, 315 Market St., Bridgeville. Friends may call at the fire house beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be sent to Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Company, PO Box 727, Bridgeville, DE 19933.
