Robert D. Smith, loved fishing, hunting

Robert D. Smith, 80, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, lifted by the clouds, and ushered into heaven Thursday, June 8, 2023.

Robert worked for Milford Fertilizer for 36 years. He was the Milton Jaycees Charter president in the 1970s and was the officer at Milford Elks Lodge as well. He also served in the U.S. Army National Guard as a Green Beret. 

Robert loved fishing, hunting, his family, music, making people laugh and classic cars.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Marion Smith; one grandson, Chase Rothermel; and one brother, David Paul Smith.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of soon-to-be 61 years in August, Doris Smith; daughters, Teresa Smith (Curtis Hudson) and Donna Marconi (Bill); grandchildren, McKenna Rothermel, Ryan Smith (Alexis) and Jessica Smith; great-granddaughter, Deliliah Chase Dunn; soon to be great-grandson, Smith, due in September; one sister, Nancy Sykes; brothers, Vernon Smith and Richard Smith; several nieces and nephews; and his loyal companion, Molly.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 p.m., Friday, July 21, at Milford Elks Lodge 2401, 18951 Elks Lodge Road, Milford.

In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to be made to Milford Elks Lodge.
