Robert Henry Finch, federal retiree
Robert Henry Finch left us and passed into the arms of his eternal father Sunday, April 10, 2022, at 1 a.m.
Born in Toledo, Ohio, Bob was the son of Robert Finch and Louise Hibbs Finch, grandson of Robert H. Finch and Sarah Moon Finch, and Emil and Nora Hibbs.
Bob graduated from DeVilbiss High school. He started college and interrupted that by enlisting in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. While serving in England, he met his future wife Betsy Lutton Finch. He was discharged and returned to the U.S. to complete his education, and graduated from The University of Toledo in 1955. He and Betsy were reunited when she came to the U.S. in 1955 when they were married. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Donna Lee Ferguson and Victoria Finch. He also has two granddaughters, Amy Ferguson and Beth Ferguson.
Bob was employed by the U.S. Census Bureau as a mathematical statistician, and later by the U.S. Social Security Administration. He was a member of Long Neck Methodist Church. While living in New Market, Md., he assisted his (in his words) lovely wife and love mate with her antique business. In his leisure time, he sang with the Columbia Barbershop Chorus in 2006. In 2006, Betsy and Bob retired to Lewes, where they have enjoyed many happy years. During his long illness, Bob was ably helped by Dr. Carmelo Disalvo of Mid-Atlantic Family Practice, and later under the wing of Delaware Hospice, which we so appreciate.
Send donations in Bob’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
