Robert McVey Jr. installed as DAR president
Robert F. McVey Jr., a broker-owner at Mann & Sons Inc. in Rehoboth Beach, was installed recently as president of the 3,700-member Delaware Association of Realtors for 2016. The event took place at Heritage Shores Club in Bridgeville and included the installation of the 2016 DAR Board of Directors. McVey’s term officially began Jan. 1.
As president, McVey will preside at all meetings of the DAR Board of Directors and Executive Committee, represent the association at important meetings and business functions, and act as the official spokesperson for the association on issues related to the real estate industry and local housing market. Also, he will represent DAR and its members on the National Association of Realtors Board of Directors, and will also serve as an ex-officio member of all state association committees and work groups.
Prior to serving as 2015 DAR president-elect, McVey was vice president and served several years on the finance and public policy committees, as well as the DAR Board of Directors.
At the national level, McVey is a member of the National Association of Realtors Board of Directors and its Realtor Party Member Involvement and Multiple Listing Issues and Policies committees.
On the local level, McVey was the 2013 president of the Sussex County Association of Realtors and served over many years on a variety of SCAOR committees, including as chair of the Professional Standards Committee. Also active in local civic and charitable activities, McVey is a director of the Sussex County Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors, serves as umpire In charge for the Delaware Little League District 3 Board of Directors, and is a member of the Senior/Big League Softball Little League World Series Committee, as well as umpire In charge. Other 2016 DAR officers installed at the event were: President-Elect Bruce Plummer, Vice President Stephen Marcus, Treasurer William Lucks, Director At Large Camilla Conlon, and National Association of Realtors Director Robert Harman Sr.
