Ronald M. Heck, firefighter, DuPont retire
Ronald M. Heck, 76, of Georgetown, passed away peacefully at home Monday, Aug. 19, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Ronnie was born in Wilmington, son of the late Charles L. and Nora (Kramer) Heck.
Ronnie worked for and retired from the DuPont plant in Seaford with over 30 years of service. He was also employed by the Sussex County Council for nine years.
Ronnie served his community for over 50 years in the Georgetown Fire Company, where he served as president, Delaware State Fire Police, and numerous other positions through the years.
He had a passion for camping and was called "The Mayor of Tall Pines Harbour Campground." He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by a son, Keith Allen Heck; and two brothers, Charles Heck and Robert Heck.
He is survived by his loving wife, Faye (Hitchens) Heck; six children, Dale McGann (Ed), Dean Heck (Lisa), Dwayne Heck (Trina), Donnie Cronic (Clifford), Dana Benson (Duane) and Amber Riniker (Scott); daughter-in-law, Beth Britton-Heck; 12 grandchildren, Geoffery, Chad, Gunner, Brittany, Dustin, Amanda, Joe, Sherrie, Ashley, Kaitlyn, Zac and Lane; 10 great-grandchildren, Caleb, Leia, Mia, Alyia, Landon, Reese, Brady, Colt, Junior and Kinsley; two brothers, Frank Heck and Tom Heck; and many nieces and nephews
A funeral service with firefighter honors will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 25, at Short Funeral Services chapel, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where a time of visitation for family and friends will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will immediately follow in Union Cemetery, Georgetown.
In lieu of flowers, Ronnie asked for donations to be made to Georgetown Fire Co., P.O. Box 77, Georgetown, DE 19947.
