Rose M. McCoy, Giant Food employee
Rose M. McCoy, 64, of Millsboro, formerly of Dagsboro and Pottstown, Pa., passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Friday, Sept. 27, 2024, at AccentCare Hospice in Wilmington.
Rose was born in Pottstown, Pa., April 17, 1960, daughter of George Walker and Mary Ellen (Wallace) Walker. Rose was employed by Giant Food in Millville as a customer service manager, where she had been employed since the store opened 25 years ago.
Rose was a hard worker who wanted to provide for her family. She will be remembered as a ferociously independent woman who loved to work and spend her free time with her family.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alan T. McCoy, in 2004; and a son, Thomas McCoy, in 2023. In addition to her father, George Walker, Rose is survived by her three children, Deanna Pfeiffer and her husband Justin of Gilbertsville, Pa., Maryrose McCoy and her husband Jon Bowers II of Reading, Pa., and Michael Alan McCoy of Reading; six grandchildren, Alex, Chase, Mya, Dakota, Jon and Lilliana; two sisters, Cheryl Cutillo of Royersford, Pa., and Bernadette Muthersbaugh and her husband James of Boyertown, Pa.; and her loving and devoted fur baby, Nova.
A service to celebrate Rose’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View, where friends and family may gather after 10 a.m. Interment will follow at St. George’s Cemetery, Clarksville.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Rose’s name to the American Lung Association, lung.org.
