Route 24-Angola-Robinsonville project continues
Work continues on improvements at the Route 24-Angola Road-Robinsonville Road intersection between Lewes and Long Neck.
According to Charles McLeod, director of community relations at the Delaware Department of Transportation, the Robinsonville Road side of the intersection is currently closed to traffic as work is taking place to widen the road, and add new drainage and a stormwater pond.
A detour is in place.
This work is expected to be completed in late August. Then, work will move to the other side on Angola Road, which will close as work takes place to widen the road as it approaches the intersection.
The project is still on track to be completed by the end of the year, McLeod said.
The project includes drainage improvements, through and right- and left-turn lanes on Robinsonville Road and Angola Road, dedicated and protected exit ramps from Route 24 to Angola Road and Robinsonville Road, and a new traffic signal.
Two Farms Inc. (Royal Farms) has filed a conditional-use application to construct a 4,709-square-foot convenience store with gas pumps at the intersection of Route 24 and Angola Road, which is the current location of Dick Ennis Marine Services and Home Builder.
A scheduled April 24 public hearing at Sussex County Planning & Zoning Commission on the application was postponed because DelDOT had not provided a written response to the applicant’s traffic impact study.
