Russell Joseph Serafini, talented blacksmith

Russell Joseph Serafini, 91, of Millsboro, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2024.

Russ was born Sept. 2, 1932, in Olyphant, Pa., to Joseph and Florence Serafini. Russ was a talented blacksmith, servicing thoroughbred racehorses up and down the East Coast. In his spare time, as he aged, he produced wonderful decorative art objects fabricated from iron. He also won many awards for his bird carvings. Russ loved to work in the kitchen, producing delicious meals. Christmas gifts to friends were loaves of his homemade bread. Russ was known and will be remembered for his generosity.

Russ was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Rosanna Campbell; and his nephew, Charles Campbell. He is survived by his wife of many, many years, Ellen; his nephew, Joseph and his family; and Charles’ family.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, March 18, at Lewes Presbyterian Church, 133 Kings Hwy., Lewes. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
