Sabina Abramowicz, passionate artist
Sabina Abramowicz, 49, of Lewes, passed away peacefully Thursday Aug. 29, 2024, from complications after a long illness.
Sabina was born April 10, 1975, in Trinee, Czechoslovakia, now the Czech Republic.
She moved to the U.S. with her mother and father when she was 3 1/2 years old. Upon graduating from Cape Henlopen High School, she attended University of Delaware, where she studied English literature. Sabina was very creative, and that carried her into a career as a hairdresser, her excellent fashion sense, and her love of painting landscapes. She also enjoyed adventures such as Outward Bound, horseback riding in Montana, skiing, and exploring Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons with her family. She also loved traveling to Europe, including Czech, Poland, and Italy.
Sabina was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Carl Abramowicz; her life partner, Billy Joiner; and her paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather. She is survived by her mother, Halina Abramowicz; sister, Dr. Christina Abramowicz formerly of Delaware, now of New Zealand; maternal grandmother, Wanda; and aunts, Krysia and Wanda of Czech Republic; her uncles, Rob Abramowicz of North East, Md., and Fred Abramowicz (Emma) of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands; and many cousins. She also had a beloved dog, Papito.
The funeral will be a private ceremony at a later date. Her ashes will be scattered to rest with her father in the ocean near Cape Henlopen.
Her family would like to thank the nurses, doctors, and support staff at Beebe ICU and ER for taking care of Sabina.
