Schaeffer is only a phone call away

October 1, 2024

I am writing this letter to your newsroom to let you know, so you can let all your readers know what an absolute wonderful person Mark Schaeffer is.

He went out of his way for several months to help my son, Kyle David, a quadriplegic as of Jan. 10, 2016. I needed a handicapped ramp replacement that was available to accommodate his 6-foot-8 self (plus his over-600-pound wheelchair). The original ramp was coming apart. Unbeknownst to me, it was not specific to his weight or height, although it was ADA compliant. It was literally coming apart daily. I was learning things I really never wanted to know.

In my frantic desperation and actual fear, I called Mark Schaeffer and explained my situation and needs with tears in my eyes and a mother’s fear in my voice. It was just Kyle and me, and I was freaking out.

Mark Schaeffer was at my doorstep the next morning with county workers. They made a plan. I seriously owe him my life.

This guy Mark Schaeffer is who can get it done for you, and, for me, a complete stranger at the time.

Now I feel as though he's one of my best friends. Yes, Mark Schaeffer is absolutely the person you want to do anything for you. Just call him, any time or hour, and he comes running. And he never goes away.

I myself am a coma victim – Dec. 24, 1992. A Christmas Eve drunk driver took much of my memory.

Life was hard. Now, it's a tad harder, but I always know I have Mark Schaeffer just a phone call away.
