Scott David Smith, loved life and people
Scott David Smith, 65, beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, Feb. 14, 2021, at home in Lewes surrounded by his loving family.
Scott was born March 6, 1955, in Bethesda, Md., to the late Glenn Gilbert Smith and Joan (Williams) Smith. He graduated from Robert E. Peary High School in Montgomery County, Md., and left short of graduating from Towson University in Baltimore County to work in his family’s business of office furniture wholesales and manufacturer’s representatives in the mid-Atlantic area. Years later the business developed into the manufacturing of office chairs. Scott was also a representative for several Canadian office furniture manufacturing companies.
After moving with his wife Kathy to Rehoboth in 2005, Scott owned the franchises to 1-800-GOT-JUNK from Sussex County through the Maryland Eastern Shore. A few years later, he opened Rehoboth Home Services where he established many relationships with area businesses, realtors and homeowners.
In addition to his parents, Scott was preceded in death by his brother, Steven Smith. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Kathleen Smith; son, Glenn D. Smith and his fiancé, Natasha Vinogradova; daughter, Lauren Smith; stepson, Jason Reinhart and his wife Brenda; grandchildren, Catherine and Edward Reinhart; sister, Sally Smith; brother, Stewart Smith and his wife Kim; sister-in-law Diane Huber; brother-in-law Jay Dusek; as well as an extended family of nieces and nephews.
Scott loved life and people, while spreading his optimism and joy all over town. A celebration of life is to be planned at a later time in the summer.
