Sea Witch Festival sees summer-like weather on opening day
The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce’s 33rd Annual Sea Witch Festival kicked off with an afternoon of fun Oct. 27. Activities included the Tyke Bike on the Boardwalk, shows at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center and the Schellville Express in Grove Park.
There’s a lot to do in Rehoboth Beach over the next two days, highlighted by the costume parade down Rehoboth Avenue at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 28. For those attending the parade, the chamber recommends getting to town by 9 a.m. to avoid road closures.
Other Saturday events include pony rides from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., on the beach at Wilmington Avenue; an outdoor kids zone at First Street Station from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; afternoon magic shows at the convention center; old-fashioned kids games and more at 2 p.m. on the beach in front of Baltimore Avenue; a horse show at 4 p.m. on the beach at Rehoboth Avenue; and the Fourth Street Fall Fest.
Sunday events include taking selfies with Hilda the Sea Witch balloon at the convention center from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., the best costumed dog parade on the Boardwalk at 1 p.m., and a second horse show on the beach at Rehoboth Avenue at 4 p.m.
It appears that the weather is going to be more like summer than fall this weekend, but that’s good for everyone involved. According to the National Weather Service, Saturday is expected to be mostly sunny with a high of 80, while Sunday is expected to see a high of 70, with some clouds.
