The Sussex Academy Seahawks and the Smyrna Eagles took to the turf in Georgetown Sept. 19, and Smyrna swooped in for a 5-2 victory.
Sussex Academy moves to 2-2, while the Eagles remain undefeated at 4-0.
The home squad struck first at the 23-minute mark on an Emma Westbrook poke at the corner of the Smyrna goal off a Peyton Campbell assist.
After that, it was all Eagles. Regan Nacrelli, Ryla Wilber and Jessica Bergold finished out the first half scoring off assists by Emily Thompson, Bergold and Nacrelli, respectively.
Bergold hit her second goal unassisted at the beginning of the second half. Savannah Sistrunk answered for Sussex Academy with a goal assisted by Gabrielle McCormick with 16 minutes left in the contest.
Smyrna added an unassisted insurance goal at 11:37 off the stick of Alexis Moore.
The Eagles outshot the Seahawks 20-12. Goalie Brynn Rifino made 11 stops in the Smyrna cage, while Seahawks keeper Gianna Voges also tallied 11.
The Seahawks will travel across town to take on Sussex Central Tuesday, Sept. 24, while the Eagles play host to Laurel Monday, Sept. 23.
