Secret Rosies of World War II program set March 8
The Milford Museum will continue its American History Series at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 8, at Milford Public Library, 11 S.E. Front St., Milford.
Historian Trish Chambers will present a program about the Secret Rosies of World War II. “Whenever we think of Rosie the Riveter, we remember those amazing women of World War II who stepped into the manufacturing, military and civilian jobs that kept America running and supplied our troop needs overseas. Recently, another group of magnificent women has been brought to the attention of the American people. Many of the women presented in this program took their stories to their graves,” said Chambers. “These women are known as the Secret Rosies of World War II.This presentation is the story of where they came from, what they accomplished and the surprising impact they had on the outcome of the war. These women were truly unsung heroes of American history.”
Chambers' energetic presentation style combines humor and realism. She is the author of two nonfiction books: "Civil War Women: Their Roles and Legacies," and "Lighthouses of the New Jersey Lighthouse Challenge.”
Sponsored by the Milford Museum, these monthly programs focus on a variety of topics concerning local, state and national history.
